This event aims to connect residents along the Oregon Coast with businesses, nonprofits, and emergency service providers, fostering greater awareness of disaster preparedness and available resources. November 9, 11:00 AM: Indigenous land management webinar. Within the continental United States, the colonization of Indigenous tribes led to the loss of 99% of previously managed Indigenous land. The new ‘tribal lands’ – usually undesirable areas tribes were forced onto – are areas that are more at risk of climate change and natural hazards. Panelists will explore the links between colonization, environmental justice, the landback movement, and natural hazards and extreme weather.

November 16: Power Outage Party, FEMA Region 10 is hosting a Zoom webinar from 11-11:45 a.m. on Nov. 16 discussing the secrets of cooking safely during a power outage using shelf-stable foods. Learn the "good, better and best" options for creating delicious and safe meals, one can of beans at a time. January 30: At the end of January, Ready NW Eugene will be hosting a Zoom meeting to discuss the seismic safety of NW region bridges and overpasses during different types of disasters. Sierra Anderson, City of Eugene Emergency Manager and Trish Sharma, City of Eugene Transportation Planner will speak. This is currently scheduled for January 30th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.

April 22-26: Save the Date: The 8th annual Oregon Preparedness Workshop will take place April 22-26, 2024, at the Sunriver Resort in Sunriver. Oregon Prepared provides the emergency management community with networking opportunities; program training and information; and discussions on current issues, lessons learned, and best practices related to all phases of emergency management. The workshop is designed to strengthen and build knowledge and partnerships by sharing experiences and ideas that further enhance the preparedness of the whole community. Oregon Prepared is open to tribal, county, city, special district and state emergency management staff; public safety and health preparedness staff; DHS/FEMA preparedness grant recipients; and non-profit and private sector partners with a role in preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery.
