July 8-9: Strengthening Indigenous America: Building Resilience through Disaster Preparedness, Response, and Recovery: Public workshop to explore opportunities to support the capacity of Indigenous American and Tribal nations and communities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and emergencies.
July 9, 10:00 AM: Communities Prepared for Disasters Webinar. Join the Oregon Department of Emergency Management, in partnership with the Oregon Commission on Hispanic Affairs, Adelante Mujeres, and FEMA, for a two-part educational series to help community and faith-based organizations serving Spanish-speaking communities better prepare for disasters. This is a free event, and all are welcome to participate! These events will be offered primarily in Spanish with English translation and ASL interpreting.

On this webinar, we'll discuss easy and affordable safety practices before, during, and after a fire, pertaining to both house fires and wildfires. Topics covered will include smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, heating sources, how to put out a small fire, safely exiting building, evacuation tips, and when to call 911.

Yet, it also creates chances for all of us to work more closely together and integrate planning efforts, locally, regionally, and city and state-wide. This approach fosters larger systems-wide thinking. It can help combine shared strategies and goals and lead to mitigation projects with multiple benefits.

This webinar will showcase the 10 research teams that received awards to support Community-Based Research on Public Health and Equity and to extend previously funded work from this program. Aug 27, 6-7:30 pm; Cost $10, Fire Risk Reduction to Your Home in the Woods: Give your home and property the very best chance against wildfire. Session focuses on the home itself, and landscaping strategies within the first 200 feet since these areas have the greatest impact in protecting your home from a wildfire.
August 28, 11:00 AM: Selfcare for Disaster Responders. This webinar will focus on the critical intersection of heat vulnerability and climate change in FEMA Region 2, focusing on lessons learned from New York City. We will explore the different factors that impact heat vulnerability, especially for people with disability, access, and functional needs, as well as individual and policy strategies to mitigate the effects of extreme heat.

October 28-31: IronOR 24 State-Level Exercise (SLE): This four-day functional exercise will bring state, local and tribal, public, private and non-profit partners together throughout Oregon to practice our collective capabilities to response within a Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake scenario.

Lane Preparedness Coalition: Hosts quarterly trainings to enhance each member’s ability to educate the community about their efforts to mitigate, respond to, and continue critical operations during, and recover from crisis and disaster events.
STATE
Preparing for the Cascadia Subduction Zone Event: In this interactive course, residents and guests of Oregon and other western states can become aware of the Cascadia Subduction Zone Event and learn how to prepare for it. This course is offered free to the public on eXtension.org through Oregon State University Extension.
